Welcome to the Florida Internal Affairs Investigators Association Website.

The association works towards the development of standardized internal affairs practices that will assist in maintaining community support and the support of each agency's members for the IA mission. The FIAIA seeks to foster cooperation among agencies through the exchange of information and experiences among Internal Affairs Investigators throughout the State of Florida.  The association’s goal is to develop and establish uniform professional standards of performance and integrity for Internal Affairs Investigators. 

Continual efforts are made to supply the members with internal affairs related advanced training and ready access to shared resources.  The training will always have an emphasis on Garrity protections, updates to the Law Enforcement and Corrections Officer's Bill of Rights, legal rulings, and any other areas that may have influence on the IA function or practice.  Training in the areas of interview and interrogation, case preparation and presentation, and current investigative techniques relating to the internal administrative investigation will also be made available as requested by the members.

ANNOUNCEMENTS & EVENTS

11/12/07 – *SPECIAL ATTENTION*: Due to low conference response we have had to cancel the plan to provide breakfast coupons or to hold a conference lunch as originally planned.  We apologize for any inconvenience this change may have caused. 

11/12/07 – To date there have been no submissions of interest in seeking office for the upcoming term.  

11/6/07 – The Conference Agenda is now available via the link below.  We will have a table available for business cards so bring a good supply for sharing.  *NOTE: The start time of the conference has been adjusted to begin at 8:00 AM instead of the original plan of 8:30 AM on 11/27.*

Note:  The conference will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 27.   The agenda is complete and posted.   Note:  We will be holding a table top discussion period to share information about interesting, difficult, or extraordinary investigations we may have conducted.  Please bring details of any cases or situations you wish to discuss with others. 

ELECTION YEAR - Elections for 2007-2009 association officers will occur at this conference.  The elected postions available are:  President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer.  If you are interested in holding one of these elected positions please email your interest with a short biography to the association president.
